Pharmacologic Management of Heart Failure

Description

This advanced pharmacology course is designed for APRNs who manage adults with heart failure across inpatient and ambulatory settings. The curriculum focuses entirely on medication management, including the rationale for guideline directed medical therapy selection, sequencing, and titration in HFrEF, as well as pharmacologic strategies used in HFpEF and HFmrEF when appropriate. Learners will strengthen skills in balancing hemodynamics, renal function, and electrolytes during medication optimization, and will apply structured monitoring approaches to reduce adverse drug events. The course also highlights high risk and commonly encountered medications that can worsen heart failure, and integrates prescribing considerations for challenging contexts such as pregnancy and refractory disease, supporting safe, evidence based decision making in day to day practice.
